What Is This?

Drum-Tuning.com is a free, browser-based drum tuning frequency calculator built for drummers who want a fast, practical starting point before reaching for a drum key or a dedicated drum tuner device.

Select your drum sizes and the tuning character you're after — Low, Medium, or High — and the calculator gives you suggested batter-head and resonant-head starting frequencies for each drum in your kit. No login, no app install, no microphone access required.

Who Is It For?

  • Drummers setting up a kit from scratch who want a ballpark before tuning by ear
  • Students learning about drum tuning and the relationship between batter and resonant heads
  • Engineers and producers who want a reference point for tuning a session drummer's kit
  • Anyone using a frequency-based tuner (like Tune-bot) who wants validated starting frequencies

How It Works

The calculator uses a lookup table of proven fundamental frequencies for common drum sizes — 18″ to 26″ kick drums, 12″ to 15″ snares, and a full range of rack and floor toms. Each fundamental is then modified by per-drum-type multipliers to produce suggested batter and resonant head targets.

"Low" character targets deeper, warmer tunings suited to rock and heavier pop. "Medium" is a versatile, balanced starting point. "High" targets a brighter, more open sound suited to funk, jazz, and studio work. The results are suggestions only — always use your ears for final adjustments.

Independence

Drum-Tuning.com is an independent project. It is not affiliated with any drum hardware manufacturer, tuning device maker, or drumhead brand. The frequency suggestions are based on widely-used tuning practices, not proprietary data from any manufacturer.
